RARE Pair Antique KIS Dolls West Germany Lady Couple
These two whimsical ladies have been together for many years so I\'m interested in selling them together but will separate if necessary. They are from a collection of dolls spanning 80 years and believed to be from 1940 or older. I have done as much research as I can and am not an expert so regarding the maker, they appear to be KIS from West Germany. I don\'t see any marks but have not taken anything apart to look either. I\'m not sure if they should be referred to as \"sockinette\" dolls or not. The material their faces/hands/legs is made of appears to be like hosiery stretched over a form (faces) and over wire or wood for the legs. They have been stitched in place (facial features). The photos were taken with them on stands so the lady on the left appears shorter but they are the same height, about 12\".
The lady on the left is dressed in green velvet brimmed hat and skirt with printed blouse and skirt lining. She has a fur collar and sleeve cuffs, faux pearl ring and necklace. She is holding a dainty tea cup, parasol and handbag. The expression on her face is priceless. Her head has a bit of movement but other parts appear rigid. Her friend is dressed in dark purple velvet and clutches a lace handkerchief, handbag and basket of flowers. She also has a fur collar and sleeve cuffs and faux diamond earrings/ring. Both ladies have blonde mohair ? hair and wide brimmed, fancy hats.
