This is an original item from 1903. It is not a recent reproduction. This is an amazing children\'s book from 1903. Titled \"The Golliwogg\'s Polar Adventures.\" by Florence Upton, graphics by Bertha Upton. \"1903 New Edition\". In case your not sure a gollywogg is a racial word for an African American looking doll with exaggerated lips and eyes. They are consider offensive and racist today. Cute story of a group of dolls including Gollywogg, a small doll whom dresses up like Red Riding Hood and calls herself \"Midget\" and three other dolls. They adventure to the North Pole and have several close calls you probably would not want to read to your kid including killing a polar bear and eating its heart and escaping a hungry walrus. Will they make it to the North Pole? You\'ll have to buy the book and find out. Book has 62 pages and every other page has a beautiful illustration. Cover has some wear here and there and is cardboard hardcover. Binding has no problems. Inside pages are all intact and in good condition, no tears, no folds, no missing pages. Measures 8 x 11. A nice centerpiece for your Black Americana or gollywogg collection.
