For Sale is a complete set of 12, banquet size knives made in the late 18th to early 19th century with carbon steel blades and sterling handles. The cutler’smark on the early steel blades is the mark of

Joseph Lamprey, 29 WestmorelandSt., Dublin, Ireland. He was a knife& sword cutler and surgical instrument manufacturer in the late 18th to mid19th century.

This is a set of12 table knives with carbon steel blades and sterling handles withfancy shell-like pistol grips.

Each knife is 10inches long.

The handles aremarked, JH, in a tiny rectangle, and the lion passant.

Condition is very good, estate for the 150 to 200-year old knives. Thereis a tiny gap between each blade and handle on all of them. The gap varies in width from almost perfecton 2, to 1 that is a bit wider than 1 /16, but not as wide as 1/8. The other 7 fall somewhere in between. Two of the joints have been repaired withsomething darker than the silver. Youcan see each joint in the photos.

The blades haveall been polished at some point before they came to us. The cutler’s mark is still quite readable onmost, very clear or at least complete on 5, partial on 5, and gone on 2.

All have tinyedge imperfections that are almost imperceptible except in the right light whenyou are looking for them. Two have bladepitting on one side closer to the handle.

All of theimperfections have been featured in the photos, but if you have any questions,please ask. We will do our best toanswer quickly.

The handles arein excellent shape with very minor impressions or imperfections that simplyconfirm age and use.
