RARE Shreve & Company Catalog circa 1915 Pan-Pacific World\'s Fair San Francisco:
$800.00

This 100-year-old Shreve & Company catalog is an incredible collector\'s item.It features an ad for an exact reproduction of the spade used by US president William Howard Taft in turning the first spadeful of earth for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition \"to be held in San Francisco in 1915\". At the back of the book, there is still an attached order form with the date of order listed as \"191_\". I have included photos of these pages aswell as other product pages in the catalog not because they have issues but because they provide a fun slice of luxurious American culture in 1915.

Shreve and Company is a high-end jeweler and silversmith entity that has been in San Francisco since 1854. Their building was one of the few to survive the earthquake of 1906. This catalog is approximately 225 pages with nearly every page featuring a large photograph (halftone plates) of a group of items for sale with prices listed on the bottom of each page. The pages are made of high quality material and are intentionally ragged cut on the edges.

The heavy paper cover shows the most signs of wear. There are a few holes in the spine and theback pages are starting to separate from the binding. The first few inside pages do have some foxing but the main pages are well preserved and in very good shape.
