A veryrare, boxedexample, of a Charles IlesThimble,
\"The Doris\".
Composed of a steel core, coated in a thick layer of Sterling Silver, this Thimble is designed to avoid piercing, as is with Sterling Silver Thimbles.
These thimbles were made in limited quantities and are difficult to find, with an original box, even more so.
It is a size11 and is round, NO holes,with expected light surface scratches.
The box\'s cradle is dark green velvet and is in remarkable condition givenIt\'s ephemeral nature. The lid is not faring so well and has been repaired. Still, it does exist and has \"The Doris\", clearly marked on the top.
The base of the box states:
\"The Doris Thimble, Sterling Silver, with intermediate steel lining, very strong and well finished. Made In England.
Opening diameter 17mm x 23mm in height.
Weight is8.31 grams
