Rare Straits Chinese (Peranakan) Silver Bowl

A superb large Straits Chinese solid silver antique bowl, late 19th-century (c1890).

Densely decorated with a complex variety of repousse and chased Chinese animal and naturalistic flower motifs; together with arabesque style foliated borders.

The twelve different animals are symbols of Chinese zodiac.

The base has detailed engraving of a fish. Adjacent to it stamped with two Chinese chopmarks. One reads\'original or pure silver\' (原银)and the other is the silversmith\'s mark (安益)

The silver has also been acid tested, and guaranteed to be .900 purity or above.

There is no other personalised monogram or crest. Without erasure or alteration.
