This is a stunning VICTORIAN solid sterling silver mounted glass hip flask or spirit flask that was made in London, England in 1896 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Samuel Summers Drew & Ernest Drew of Drew & Sons at their Piccadilly workshops. The design is stunning and classic shape with a sterling silver captive lid and a removable sterling silver base. It measures5 3/4\" high by 3\" wide by 1 1/2\" deep. This is a VERY substantial piece asit weighs299.6 grams -almost 9 3/4troy oz. but that does include the glass. It is engraved withMFC to the base and to the lid.

The silver has less than the usual light surface scratching and just a few dings and dents - super condition!! The lid still fits very well. There are no cracks or chips to theglass.It is hallmarked tothe neck and to the basewith SSD over ED, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),leopard head,ashowing that it was hallmarked in London in 1896. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A really rareVICTORIAN solid silver mounted hip or spirit flask in superb condition after almost 120 years!!!
