Rare Vintage 1930 RRP Co Black Ceramic Cauldron Jardiniere Pot Roseville OH EUC This is a charming old piece of art pottery created by the RRP Company (Robinson Rainsbottom Pottery), out of Roseville, Ohio. Excellent signed Roseville USA RRP Co. RRP Co. stands for Robinson Rainsbottom Pottery. It was made in Roseville Ohio and should not to be confused with the more famous Roseville Pottery Co. RRP made mostly functional pottery items. It went out of business in 2005 and its value continues to rise. The pot measures 8\" round by 6\" high. This is a wonderful piece of pottery stands on three feet and has two handles. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. I can not see any flaws on the surface, but it is pre-owned and may have some minor wear. The Rainsbottom brothers (Frank, Ed, Johnnie & Mort) bought the Oval Ware and Brick Co. in 1900 in Ironspot, Ohio. (Ironspot is just outside of Roseville on the Moxahala Creek.) They remodeled and in 1901 renamed this as Rainsbottom Brothers Pottery. By 1916 using local “native clays” mined within 10 miles of the pottery, Rainsbottom Pottery was the largest producer of stoneware jars in America. In 1920, they merged with the brick and tile maker Robinson Clay Product Company of Akron, Ohio, to become Robinson-Rainsbottom. Initially, Rainsbottom made jardinieres & red flower pots, expanding into garden ware when it merged with Robinson Clay Product Company. The company was able to survive the great depression & continued until 2005 when it finally ceased operations. RRP Co. or RRP Roseville was the mark used by the firm of Robinson-Rainsbottom. Please Note: I acquire my items from a variety of sources. I try to clean and sanitize everything, but I cannot guarantee that the items have not been in homes/locations where cigarette and/or pet odors/hair have accumulated. I try to check my items for any unusual smells, but I may not be as sensitive to these odors as you might be.
