RARE VINTAGE HAND BLOWN COBALT BLUE ART GLASS HANDLED CORNUCOPIA BOWL BASKET SOONER OZARK BECRAFT ARKLAHOMA

The Sooner in Sooner Glass has to do with Oklahoma being known as the Sooner State. This kind of glass has been found with several different labels. It is known that the Sooner labels were used by the company, Central Glass of Spiro, Oklahoma, makers of bent\\curved glass for windows, cabinets etc.
The original name for the novelty glass line Old Hickory Glass, started in 1959 by E. F. Underwood. These items were made from recycled glass and cullet acquired from other glass manufacturers.

Becraft Glass was owned by Alvin Becraft. He owned his own glass factory right out of his garage \"Becraft Glass\" in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1957. He worked for Orville Hamon at Scott Depot before starting his own production. Some of the compaies lables read \"Hand Made By Becraft Of The Ozarks\". By 1970 he had discontinued his glass blowing business and closed in 1972.

The feathered item represents a hand blown art glass basket that measures approximately 4 3/4\" tall from the floor to the tallest points of the scalloped rim, 7 1/4\" from the floor to the tallest points of the handle, 9\" at the widest points across the bowl\'s rim and 12\" at the longest points.

The piece is sculptured in the shape of cornucopia or a horn and has a large overhead handle. It comes in cobalt blue color.

There are no marks or labels found but the shape is distinctive for the makers of the so-called \"Sooner\" glass from Oklahoma and \"Ozarks/Becraft\" glass from Arkansas. See above for more detailed information.

I\'m not sure who, when or where did this exact glass basket. You can find similar ones online both described as Sooner and Ozarks. However, I was not able to find another example in cobalt blue color. All others that I\'ve seen are in different swirled multicolors. In fact, according to my research objects in cobalt blue and other monochrome colors are more rare to find than the swirled pieces.

The item comes in well-preserved condition with no cracks, chips or repairs but normal vintage wear and some production flaws and imperfections due to the hand made \"AS />
.
