Rare Vintage Sterling Silver, Amethyst and Turquoise Brooch by Zoltan White circa 1930.
This is a stunning example of early 20th century Austro-Hungarian style jewelry, made by the master silversmith Zoltan white and fully marked on the back. It comes with its original box.
Zoltan White was apprenticed in Budapest and was making jewellery in England from around 1900 to the 1940s. His Hungarian origins can be seen in the style of decoration he specialised in; being famous for his rococo style settings, very reminiscent of the earlier Austo Hungarian pieces.
Featuring a large central amethyst, surrounded by smaller amethysts and turquoise, this is a very eye catching brooch in superb condition. The large amethyst appears to have small inclusions and a \'flaw\' inside the stone which shows through in some lights as a darker \'flash\'. This makes the stone appear more three dimensional and would seem to have been deliberately cut this way. All the stones are intact and the T hinge, pin and safety clasp on the reverse are sound.
The brooch is stamped Sterling, Made in England and ZW&co and probably dates to the later 1920s or 1930s, judging from the safety clasp used for the pin.
