This is the most impressive piece of Lampl jewelry I have ever seen. Lampl was fascinated with all things Asian (particularly jade). In 1927, he unsuccessfully campaigned to have the November birthstone changed from topaz to jade. This magnificent sautoir style necklace looks as if it could have been created by one of the finest European jewelers of the time. The lower portion of the 26\" long necklace chain is composed of 1/2\"(1.3cm) carved amethyst discs separated by tiny gold flowers and 5mm jade beads. The upper portion features 4mm jade beads with fine gold chain on either side. The 3 1/4\" long pendant is composed of a 1 1/8\"(2.9cm) x 3/4\"(2.0cm) carved amethyst stone and a 1 5/8\"(4.1cm) x 1\"(2.5cm) carved jade stone with a bird and floral design. The piece is marked \"WL 14K\" on the underside of the hidden clasp and weighs approx 58.6 grams. The overall condition is very fine with the only thing to note being a fracture in one of the smaller amethyst stones that is only noticeable when the piece is held to the light.
