Extremely cool pair of World War 2 Era German rln+ Dienstglas / Zeiss Binoculars. They are 10x50 zoom and labeled with serial number #87718. It also has the original case, which as you can see in the pictures appears to have gotten scorched / burnt somewhere along the way. Personally, I think this really just adds to the history of this fantastic piece of militaria.
As for the condition, there are definitely noticeable nicks and scuffs around the outside as you can see in the picture. These binoculars have definitely seen some action. As for functionality, they still work great! However, there does appear to be one very small chip in the left lens, but its very small. As mentioned above, the case is bit charred black in a few spots, and the prong for the button to clip is missing. Also the strap is broken off, and some of the stitching at the top of the cover is coming undone. Despite the minor cosmetic issues, this is still in solid shape for a 70+ old piece of history.
I\'ve done some research on these, but can\'t pinpoint the exact year based on the serial number. I\'m sure some of you may know better than me. In any case, this is a super cool piece of World War II history, and it\'s crazy to think about what these must have seen, and the mystery of how the case got charred. Did it fall into a fire while a soldier wasn\'t paying attention? Or did it get singed during a raid in Dresden? Berlin? Hamburg?
