RARE WINE TASTER FRENCH SOLID SILVER COIN CUP c1920s RARE ANTIQUE:

A rare French solid silver coin wine taster cup. It dates c1919. It has been superbly designed having a planished bowl, hammered from coins having a coin rimthe edge which reads ‘DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE’ meaning God protect France. Itsbase has been set with a 1919 1 Franc coin and the handle made from a 1916 50 centimes coin - possibly made shortly after WWI when silver supplies were low and the franc very weak. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures almost 2.75 inches (6.8cms) across including the handle and over 2 inches (5.3cms) excluding it by 0.75 inch (1.9cms) tall and weighs 29 grams. A very good quality unusual piece.
