Rare antique BARREL KNIFE marked No1. in good collectable condition
Up for sale: this nice antique socalled "Barrel Knife" which have a wooden barrel to fit the knife in folded position. The example that I am offering is somewhat larger than the other ones I have sold. The length of the barrel included steel mounts (but not measured the parts that stick outside of the barrel) is 110 mm (4.3 Inches). The overall length with extended blade is 210 mm (8.3 Inches). The barrel has been made out of wood which looks like birch or oak. There is a nice monogram carved in the wood which shows the "A" as initial. The blade shows the marking No 0-1. Condition report: the barrel is in good condition with a nice graining in the wood > a small crack is present but nothing serious. One of the metal ends shows some minor "play", the other end fits tight. The locking system of the bladeto fit into the barrel has a strong spring and good catch however there is some play caused by use and wear of the wood. The brass shows some tarnish > the blade has been sharpened but is in rather good condition. A nice buy for the collectors of these interesting knives! There is PRICE!
