Rare vintage Cast Iron Clydesdale Stallion Horse DOORSTOP Later Hubley/Breyer:
$125.00

Rare Art Deco Cast Iron Clydesdale Stallion Doorstop9\" tall x 11\" wide. Original paint with some normal wear from age and use. Circa 1950s-60s. No breaks in the iron. It needs a careful cleaning, but we did not want to risk damaging the paint, so it comes with a little grit. From what I can tell, this is a later version of a fairly uncommon doorstop with some controversial history. It is NOT a cheap imported reproduction, but not an antique either. There is an older version from the early 1900s that\'s smoother and the paint looks more mellow. Then there is a Breyer Horse collector blog claiming this is a copy of a post-1950 plastic Breyer horse and dates it to the 1970s, but they did not seem to know about the earlier doorstop that pre-dates Breyer. So my conclusion is this: based on the quality of the paint and iron, I would say it\'s a late-period Hubley (or similar U.S. company) from the 1960s or late 1950s. Breyer probably copied the early cast iron version. Please make your own conclusion. Ido guarantee it is NOT from the 1920s and also NOT a new/cheap imported repro.SHIPPING NOTES:Your Package has Tracking and Insurance--Always.
