We are excited to offer this rare 9ct gold vesta case. It is not only unusual in the use of gold but also for sliding tray to access the matches. The striker surface is found on one end. The case is elegantly plain; just the engraved gothic “PL” initials of the original owner. It is rectangular with curved sides.The outer case has hallmarks for Birmingham 1903 and maker’s marks of “A” between “BROS” and “LTD” for Adie Brothers Ltd; a well respected firm of silver and gold smiths. The inner tray appears to be made of thin gauge brass.The case is in excellent antique condition with only commensurate light wear and a couple of insignificant impact dimples; nothing that detracts.
