Reagan 1981 Rare Vintage Inaugual Committee Historic Ephemera News Release :
$5.00
- This rare original (only one (1) unique Ronald Reagan Inaugural Committee News Release memorabilia has two (2) thematically related USPS postmarks spanning 24 years! The two page news release stationary is imprinted with the official Reagan/Bush Inaugural Seal. The special stationary was produced for the inaugural committee\'s exclusive use. Both sides of this dual hand canceled first day cover are preserved and can be viewed in its handsome 8 1/2\" X 11\" heavy duty crystal clear stand alone acrylic frame.
- This unusual ephemera artifact, (from the estate of 98 year old Frank Brandon private collection) was used as a Natural Ephemera Cachet to produce this dual first day cover. As noted above, it amazingly has the following two (2) thematically related official USPS hand canceled postmarks SPANNING 24 years:
1. Jan 20, 1981 Reagan/Bush first Inauguration Day (37 years ago), Postmarked at Houston, Texas (Bush Home), one of a number of cities authorized to cancel Inauguration covers on the same date.
2. Feb 9, 2005 (Added 24 years later), First Day of Issue (FDOI) Ronald Reagan Commemorative Stamp Postmarked at the Reagan Library, his final resting place in Simi Valley, California.
It is interesting to note that the USPS authorized this commemorative stamp in an unprecidented expedited fashion. The FDOI was issued less than a year after the death of President Reagan. This is very significant because It normally takes one to three years to produce a commemorative stamp, i.e., design, engraving, printing, distribution, etc. Further, many famous persons ( including former Presidents), places or things often are not considered for the great honor until many years after a particular event. This was truly \"One for the Gipper\"!
Notes :
This original thematically related dual first day cover is ready to be displayed anywhere including museums, offices, meeting rooms, clubs, and at home. Also If desired, It can easily be taken out of the acrylic frame and put into a wall frame of your choice.
The highest buyer will obtain a true collector piece of American history that is attractive, interesting, and educational. This historic ephemera artifact will not only be a great conversational piece, but more importantly, it will provide continued enjoyment to all future viewers. It could also increase in value over time.
Lastly, for collectors who seek to find errors on First Day Covers (even knit picking) there are two (2) on this one. In case you missed them, they are:
1. The date of this News Release January 12, 1980 should be January 12, 1981 (typo)?
2. The 10 cent stamp canceled on Inauguration Day Jan 20 1981 at Houston, Texas has insufficient postage. The correct amount was 15 cents.
