\"Tex\" A True Story: Tex came to me when he was 4 weeks old, in mid October of 2003, and he was very sick at the time. He had pneumonia and had stopped eating. He was having a difficult time breathing, as well. I took Tex to Texas A & M Veterinary Hospital, on the Campus of Texas A & M University, located in College Station, Tx. and about a 35 minuet drive from my home. After an exam and several tests, over the next few days, it was determined he could not survive outside of his oxygenated incubator and that he had to have lung surgery. He had successful surgery and had part of his left lung removed. The surgery was not uneventful, however. His first incision was too low and he had to be \"re-cut,\" up higher and closer to his lung. Thus, leaving him two scars to sport around as souvenirs of his life saving operation. He also had to be revived back to life two times during the surgery. I am happy to say that the operation was a success and he just celebrated his 11th Birthday, recently. He is a strapping, beautiful, male African lion who shares his home with \"Shanie\" a female lion.
