In early Meiji era, aftter Meiji Restoration, Japanese government had to earn money from foreign countries,
to make strong government against Western countries. But, Japan had not enough natural resources or products to export.
Silk was the only product that they could sell.In 1878, Japan had joined to third Paris World\'s fair to introduce Japanese traditional and original culture all over the world.
Because in this time, Japan was very poor and weak country. And they could not buy warship, cannon, and industrial machines etc, especially they needed to construct railways to transfer many things, people and soldiers.
Anyway, it was very serious issue how to sell Japanese products.Fortunately, by the Expo in Paris, \"Japonism\" spread all over the world.
So Japan could export traditional craft products.
In this time, such products became one of foundations of Japanese economy.
These products were very delicate, sensitive, beautiful and all hand-made, so they were very expensive.
But, many products were exported to foreign countries.
