This marvelous little bowl has such primitive, simple, honest charm. As a little girl, I saw it on my aunt\'s vanity table and was always intrigued by the simple design that came alive for me. Unfortunately, I never got to hear the story of how she obtained the dish, that wasn\'t something I thought of as a child, but I\'d sure love to hear the story now!
After reading about Pamunkey Pottery through a Google search that lead me to the Pamunkey Pottery Guild website, I found that this might be intended as an ashtray or trinket dish, made with the tourist trade in mind. If you have any interest in Native American history, you would probably enjoy reading about this tribe and how the VA State Government established a pottery school to assist the Tribe during/after the Depression.
I\'ve included photos at different angles to help you see the whole surface since the glare from my overhead light interferes with the photos. The stand is not included in the sale.
Overall, the bowl measures about 3.5\" in diameter and 1\" in depth. There are no cracks, chips, or any other damage that I can see.
