Unusually long length of handmade bobbin lace in a Vinciola or Reticella geometric design. Braided technique, thread, and overall design are consistent with 17th century. Thread has the lovely cool feel of old linen.
Remarkably good condition - finished off at both ends, likely for an altar front or furnishing.
About 3 yards 12 in. long, 5 1/2 in. deep.
From the old stock of Inez Carl, and The Real Lace Shop in Manhattan in the early 20th century.
