A reprint of a rare original. First published inRichmondin 1863, includes recipes plus also hints on making soap, ink, glue and candles as well as remedies for various diseases.

This book shows how the Southern people, cut off from their normal supply of necessities by blockages of Southern seaports and the prohibition of trade between the Confederacy and U.S. Government, turned to their natural resources for substitutes that made life more pleasant.

UPS (domestic orders only) is faster but more expensive. For domestic orders, please tell us your shipping preference by e-mail right after you order (that is, whether you prefer delivery by standard mail or UPS).

We recommend UPS for orders you want in 7 business days (sometimes less) and for orders worth more than $120.00.

FOREIGN ORDERS: For foreign orders we use either Global Priority Envelopes for small books and DVDs, or Global Priority Boxes for larger books and mixed orders. We will measure and weigh your order to determine if we must ship in an envelope or box. For foreign orders it is not necessary for you to contact us about a shipping preference. Use the same procedure as above; order first and pay after you receive our invoice. Thanks!!
