Forsale is a reproduction camera strap (handle) for a vintage large format Eastman2D View Camera. This strap is laser cutfrom genuine vegetable tanned cow hide leather, 1/8” thick. I have developed a process for producing theraised lettering and piping around the edges.I apply a generous application of saddle soap, Kiwi Brown Shoe Polish and100% Neatsfoot Oil to duplicate flexibility, patina and appearance of theoriginal.

Irestored a 5x7 Eastman 2D camera. Thecamera had missing and damaged parts. Ihad a new bellows made and was able to scrounge or fabricate what I needed forthe restoration with the exception of the leather strap handle. My quest to find a suitable, authentic straphas been unsuccessful.

Assuch, I fabricated a strap to fit my 2D.I also have an Eastman No. 1, Whole Plate Camera (6-1/2 x 8-1/2) with anoriginal strap. I used that to pattern myreproduction strap. The size, shape andappearance of my reproduction duplicate this original strap. In photos I have seen, the Eastman 8 x10cameras appear to use this same strap. Ifthe outside dimension of the retaining brackets on your camera is 5.375”, thisstrap should fit your camera.

Noteto the appearance of uneven coloration and blemishes on the leather. We are dealing with a natural leather productwhere blemishes are present and texture and porosity variations of the materialaffect die and oil adsorption. No twostraps will be identical in color. Restassured, I’ll reject anything that I would not put on my camera.

I just mounted it onto the camera and it’s stunning. When I restored the camera I had a devil of a time finding a strap. I didn\'twant to use the kind that loops around with a buckle. I finally found a trunkstrap of the right size (more or less) but I could only get it in black. It didthe job okay, but it can\'t hold a candle to yours. Your reproduction looksabsolutely original and really completes the restoration. The color, theembossing, even the thickness are 100 times better than the one I had on it.I\'m very impressed.
