RESTORED:

Most of the Wood&Steel Engravings, lithographs, etc. made in the mid-19th Century and later were printed on paper made almost exclusively of wood pulp which was processed with a number of harmfulacids. Over time, these acids madethe woodfibersbreak downcausing discoloration, which you see as shades of brown.Generally, thedarker the colorthe more brittle the paper has become.A print that is stillacidic and discoloredwill continue to break down over time, even if properly stored or matted.

We are abletoneutralize theacids, aswell asremove mold, foxing andwaterstainsusing only ARCHIVAL PROCEDURES AND MATERIALS.These proceduresalso removemostof the browning. Because of what we do, theprintwill look closer to its originalappearance andlastmuch longer than a print that has not been restored.
