Vintage Gold Filled Banglebracelet 18 grams – Marked “Pat Dec 26 05 Bates & Bacon.” There is a placefor a monogram but that is blank with a few scratch marks, monogram centerpiece is approximately ¾ inches. The inside diameter of the bracelet isapproximately 7 inches and about 3/8 inch width. There is moderate wear to thefinish as expected for a piece that is over 100 years old and the clasp worksgreat. It is a true illustration of the style of that period in history. A lovely piece.

“The present firm of Bates &Bacon was formed in 1857 under the name of Skinner, Viall & Company and in1858 the name was changed to Bates, Capron & Williams, but two yearslater the senior member of the concern sold his interests and began business inhis own name, taking George M. Bacon into partnership in 1867, and operating asBates & Bacon. The firm engaged in the production of rolled gold platedbracelets. In 1882 the production of watch cases was added, the company beingthe first Attleboro unit to engage in this line. The present-day unit of Bates &Bacon, Inc., is made up of A. S. Blackinton and F. E. Tappan, and it employs150 operatives.”
