Spectacular framed 18\" x 24\" oil painting of the Carmel Mission Basilica by Robert M. Caples. Total framed piece measures 25\" x 31-1/4\" Excellent Condition!Robert M. Caples is listed in \"California Watercolors 1850-1970\" by Gordon McClelland and Jay Last. He was born in Los Angeles, California and studied at the Chouinard Art Institute. He worked for the Walt Disney Studios producing watercolor background paintings for animated films. In the 1950s and 1960s, he painted animated film backgrounds for Warner Brothers Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios. Caples continued to paint fine art and commercial illustrations into his retirement in the early 1970\'s. He also traveled the United States in a motorhome with his wife, capturing the beauty of the land and its people in his oil and watercolor paintings. His work has been featured at museums in Southern California such as the Long Beach Museum of Art and the California Heritage Museum in Santa Monica.
