Its Discovery in 1909 Under the Auspices of the Peary Arctic Club. By Robert E. Peary. With an introduction by Theodore Roosevelt and a foreword by Gilbert H. Grosvenor. Second edition. Published by Frederick A. Stokes, New York, 1910. Dark blue ribbed cloth over boards with title in gilt, pictorial stamped on front. Top edge of block of pages gilded. 373 pages plus folding color map at back, numerous illustrated plates (plates in color and black & white).

Rectangular card, signed by Robert Peary, pasted to front free end paper. Pasted to the verso of the frontispiece is a letter, hand-written by Robert Peary and signed, "Peary." The letter is on letterhead from The Army and Navy Club, Washington, and is dated Feb. 3, 1913.

Condition: Previous owner's bookplate, pasted to front end paper. The cloth is rubbed and lightly soiled, spine faded, light wear to extremities, with a little fraying to spine ends. Pages lightly yellowed, a few finger prints. In very good condition. Binding tight and square. Pages supple and clean. Map nice. Autographed letter and signatures nice.
