French Rococo Box in Silver and Enamel C 1920

Rococo 950 silver and enamel box. Made by Alphonse Debain in France, ca. 1920. Box is round and has straight sides decorated with engine-turned wave ornament. Box underside has concentric engine-turned ornament. On cover is enamel plaque with pastoral scene: a shepherd and shepherdess enjoy chaste repose in a bucolic setting. Enamel has silver guilloche border. Box and cover interior lightly gilt. Hallmarked. Strong colors and fine patina.

Dimensions: H 1 1/3 x D 3 1/4 in. Total weight: 5 troy ounces. BL602
