ARTCRAFT

A Middle Period Line, introduced in 1933

Factory Name (s): Artcraft

Style: Art Deco shapes, often having Arts and Craft glazes

Standard Color(s): Matte mottled green or tan; or glossy solid colors

Typical Marks: Foil labels ( These could be lost, leaving the piece unmarked) Some may have hand-written (crayon) shape numbers.

Earlier researchers have viewed Artcraft as a single jardiniere ( and pedestal ) shape, a rounded from with a stepped -down rim and attached handles. In August 1933, these \" semi - modernistic \" Artcraft jardinieres were offered to the trade in two semi- matt colorings. \" the green is brown lined and the brown is green lined\" The jardiniere were accompanied by \"a new line of vases in ArtCraft\' ware \" to \" come in 12, 16 and 18 inch types and in a choice of six colors, there being two greens, two blues and two browns, together with black and Ivory \" . Another trade journey described the colors as a \" Ivory, black, turquoise, tan, green and a Windsor blue in a glossy glaze- seemingly a porcelain finish \"
