This a Roseville Pine Cone Pillows Vase in Green. It is 8 1/4 inches tall with a Pine Cone and needle decoration on each side attached to sprig handles. A pine Cone is prominent at the top of each sprig handle. The Pine Cone pattern a Frank Ferrell (a noted Zanesville pottery designer) design was first produced by the Roseville Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio in 1931. It is marked on the unglazed bottom in die incised script Roseville 845-8\' (this dates the vase between 1936 and 1939). A discussion of and pictures of the pattern can be found in \"Introducing Roseville Pottery\" Second Edition, by Mark Bassett beginning at page 200. Mr. Basset describes the vase as fan shaped which is not correct. It is a classic pillows vase design. The vase has some very minor crazing on the inside bottom which can hardly be seen and one pinpoint glaze pit, but it is in otherwise excellent condition and I can find no other chips, cracks or mold flaws.
