Royal Automobile Club 1914 Volunteer Corps Badges (RAC):
$99.92

This item is a collection of rare World War One tunic buttons and collar badges for the RAC volunteer corps or ( British Motor Service Volunteer Corps) who served during WWI from the outbreak in August 1914. They took their own vehicles to France with the BEF and drove General Staff and Cavalry division high ranking officers during their duty often right up to the front lines. The uniform was the same pattern as british officers but with Royal Automobile Club buttons and insignia. The frame contains a pair of collar badges, 5 large and 4 small buttons all 100% original. They have been mounted into a shadow box frame and displayed with a copy of a period newspaper item about the corps and a photo of an RAC volunteer in uniform. All the RAC volunteer staff were entitled to the 1914 star and the display is finished with a museum quality, age toned replica of this medal. Great display of uniform insignia to possibly the smallest corps attached during WWI. Postage by special delivery owing to the fragile nature. Some history on this corps can be found at
