You are offerding on a really great, old and unique collectible by Royal Bayreuth call “Devil and Cards” pitcher. It is hand painted porcelain and causes visitors to our home to always stop and ask about it. It is a show stopper without a doubt and would look good in any collection. A now deceased family member recalled this dating back to the 1930’s – but that was a very old memory so we don’t know how much stock you should place in that recollection. We also found a reference to the milk pitcher molds of the Devil and Cards being from 1905 – so it appears this could be quite old. If someone can accurately date it, please let us know and we’ll post it for everyone going forward. Anyway, we’ll price it low, throw in free shipping and hope for the best for the next family to enjoy.Apparently these come in three sizes as well, this is the middle size and measures roughly 4 ½” to the highest part of the pitcher, 3 7/8” to the spout tip and 5” to the top of the devil’s head. It measures roughly 6” from the back of the devil to the front of the pitcher. (Note: We’ve also seen this referred to as “Satan Vase” and “Satan Pitcher” but that is incorrect as far we can tell.) While this is considered hand painted porcelain, only the devil is actually done so as the cards are transfer decoration. These also come with the word “Bermuda” painted on which we understand was made for the tourist trade and are much more common. This one does NOT have “Bermuda” painted on. And apparently the color of the company mark makes a difference as well, this is the sought after Blue mark on the bottom used from 1902 onwards.Condition wise, as you can see, this is in excellent condition with only a couple very small specks of red paint missing. There are no chips, cracks, flea bites or repairs whatsoever. Overall it is in really excellent condition! We will ship this fabulous piece of porcelain out to you - at our expense in Priority Mail - the same or next day following receipt of your payment. PayPal payment is appreciated and expected within three days of the sales close. Also, if after the sale closes you’re having a PayPal problem, or otherwise, let us know and we’ll work with you. We know things happen unexpectedly and at the worst possible time. Please note our 13+ years on and offer in confidence knowing you’ll be getting a fair and honest deal. We’re a retired military family cleaning out a few drawers, closets and shelves in our smoke-free home. Lastly, please ask any questions before offerding. Good luck! Thanks!
