This is an 8 Inch LAMBETH mark Doulton Jug from 1893. It is in perfect condition. It is a precursor of the 1901 Series Ware more decorated Proverb jugs.
There are 4 circular Cartouches with headsinside, enclosed in laurel leaves and surrounded by the following text.
\"For ev\'ry ill beneath the sun
There is a remedy or none
If there be one then try and find it
If there be none then never mind it\"
There is an impressed Doulton Lambeth mark and an 0441 or it could be 6441 or 8441. It is hard to tell.
All in all a stunning lovely old Tavern Jug.
