Designed by Max Henk for the Series: Canadian Centennial Series, issued 1967 - 1982. On the bottom of the jug is the Royal Doulton logo, The Lumberjack, D6613, Copyright 1966, Doulton & Co Limited, as well as several Registered Numbers (These were used in various countries that this item was registered.) (See Specifics below.) This item is in good condition with no chips or breaks. Royal Doulton Toby Jugs have become collectibles and through the years have increased in value dependant on its popularity or demand for specific models. Please ask questions before offerding. Fun Facts : Note-The original release of this jug was sold exclusively in the North American market & carried a special backstamp including the words \'Canadian Centennial Series 1867-1967\'. The backstamp was eliminated and issued for world-wide sale in 1968. The important role played by the lumberjack in the rise and development of the United States & Canada is sometimes overlooked. Lumbering-the logging and sawing of timber-is the oldest industry in both these countries and is still a very large one today, as it is also in Sweden, Finland, and the Soviet Union. Methods vary in different regions. In some parts of Canada, for instance, the logs are cut in the winter and floated down rivers in the spring, when the ice melts, to the sawmills. This may look picturesque but for the lumberjack it is very hard work. The Doulton lumberjack is shown with his axe which in the early days was his only tool. Since then crosscut saws and, more recently, power saws have made his work somewhat easier. The old settlements of log cabins huddled together have given place to lumbering towns with all modern conveniences.
