Today I offer from my personal collection a magnificent Russian 84 solid silver orthodox episcopal Panagia in excellent condition. Panagia has the shape of an ellipse with dimentions 5.1/4\" X 3.0\" inches (132 mm. X 75 mm.) including the crown. Front side of the Panagia is decorated with an lovely icon, made of hand-painted hot silicate/glass enamel, (50 x 39 mm.) which depicts the Virgin and Child. Around, the image is a beautifuly and masterly cased with mother of pearls beads and frame.

Around of the panagia have a gilded ellipse with nscriptions : \"Спаси, сохрани и помилуй нас, господи\" (Bless, save and have mercy on us, Lord) and \"Ибо свет христов просвещает всех\" (The light of Christ is enlightening all)....or something like that. The inscriptions are made in Old Slavonic and I can not read them properly, or to translate them faithfully.

The back of the panagia is decorated with 4 gilded circular elements, representing scenes from the Bible and gilded ellipse with inscriptions : \"Образ буди верным словом, житием, любовию, духом, верою, чистотою\" (The image of a wakeful word, life, love, spirit, faith, purity).....or something like that.

Panagia body is attached to the chain by russian imperial crown with orthodox cross on the top. The chain is attached to the crown and consists of 35 units. All links are hallmarked with 84 and other marks. The chain is appr. 88.0 cm. long, which is approx. 34.1/2 \" inches, enough to be worn around the any neck...

Panagia opens on hinges and inside probably have saved some church values and relics. Both parts of the Panagia are fixed to each other (to remain closed) through a needle that is attached to a thin chain. All parts of the Panagia / Reliquary are hallmarked for 84 silver.

Panagia is 13.2 cm. (5.1/4\" inches) long, including the crown, 7.5 cm. (3.0\" inches) wide and appr. 8-9 mm. thick.

Panagia weighs appr. 209.25 grams solid silver. It is a superior piece !
