S.T.Dupont is launching a new bespoke edition named Paris 1872 for the end of the year (2012), as a tribute to the year the House was founded by Simon Tissot-Dupont. In order to celebrate the 140th birthday of S.T. Dupont, the company created the Paris 1872 lighter, it\'s a gold plated hand engraved piece.

In recognition of this excellence, S.T.Dupont was awarded the EPV (Living Heritage Companies) seal of quality by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry.
This official commendation pays tribute to the House\'s unique savoir-faire.

The style of engraving on the Paris 1872 edition is inspired by the Garnier Opera House. Simon Tissot-Dupont was the official photographer of this architectural masterpiece commissioned by Napoleon III, before becoming trunk-maker to the élite of the day.

The result is a harmonious blend of timeless classicism and the decorative, luxurious curves of Second Empire style. As a symbol of this union the lighter bears a crest with the House’s signature letter D at its centre.

In a tribute to French craftsmanship, items in the Paris 1872 edition are created in collaboration with Master Engraver Frédéric Krill. It takes no less than 35 hours to engrave the Ligne 2 lighter. Patience and time are the cornerstones of this craft.
