Description:

This is a black dress made in a classic 1940s style. The dress itself is from the 80s, when 1940s styles came back into fashion. When making the dress they even included some exceptional 1940s interior style details like pinked seams and hems finished with both lace and ribbon. They also made the dress in a rayon acetate textile and left it unlined which is appropriate for the time they were trying to recreate. I don\'t think I can quite express in words the quality craftsmanship that went into this piece, but I will try! Boat style neck with small pads in the poof shoulder create a very dramatic, square neckline. The sleeves are wide and poof slightly at the shoulder with a dramatic taper to the cuff. There is a small slit in the cuff so you can squeeze your hand through. Seamless waist with gathered pleats at the shoulder and hip finished with black beads. Wrap style skirt leaves a bit of reveal with a rounded hem. Cut on the bias, so the material has some give. There is a bit of very light fading under the arms, it is quite minimal and does not affect the overall appearance or wearability of this piece.
