Overview: This is "Jazz Trio" -- a show-stopping Large Original Oil on Canvas painting from Listed California Modernist Master, Sammy Pasto (1921-2013). This piece is a fantastic mix of some of Pasto's signature styles, perfectly blended to create a truly exceptional work of fine art. The eye of the guitarist is almost 3-D, the colors are rich and beautiful, and the paint has texture from a palette knife. Pasto himself was a musician so this is a piece that was very close to his heart. It is signed in the lower left as pictured. Dated and titled on the back. Pasto's original price tag of $6500 was with the piece. Just superb from top to bottom. This piece has a gallery wrap (painted on the edges of the canvas so it does not need a frame) though it would look nice framed too. Gallery Certificate of Authenticity included.
Provenance: Pasto lived and worked in San Diego, where our gallery has been for over 15 years. We have a very good relationship with his son and work with him on the proper handling and sale of Pasto's works. Most of the works we sell have only been in the private collection of Pasto or his immediate family, and they are considered by the family to be some of his best and most valuable works. Many of them were shown at The San Diego Art Institute.
Condition: Painting in very good condition -- no cracking or chipping, canvas tight.

About the Artist: Sammy Pasto, California Modernist, resided and painted in San Diego, California until his death. His works are highly sought after by serious Modernist / Abstract art collectors. Pasto’s greatest passion was art. Also a musician, he was been consumed by an intense need to create since his youth. The influence of music in Pasto’s work is apparent; his lines and shapes convey a sense of rhythm and harmony. Playful images dance among vivid, radiant colors. Pasto’s work has been featured in various solo and group exhibitions in San Diego, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York. The artist has won numerous awards and his art is included in many private art collections. Always innovating, Pasto developed several unique styles and his works are widely recognized and critically acclaimed. Pasto has exhibited his works at the San Diego Art Institute; the East County Art Association in El Cajon, California; Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery in La Jolla; the La Costa Gallery; the New York Art Expo in New York City; the Creative Gallery in Philadelphia, Pa.; the Fraymart Gallery in Los Angeles; to name a few.
