We are pleased to offer for sale the most desirable accessory in the entireSchoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circus line of toys, the Large Oval Circus Tent. When assembled this large tent measures 44” in length by 18” in depth and it stands just over 29” tall without the Flags! If you collect Schoenhut Circus toys thenthis is the ultimate tent to display your collection in. This tent was introduced as being a “ NEW ”product in the 1928 Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circus catalog (see photo #12 -catalog not included in sale). It wasonly made for a very short period of time and in limited numbers before when in1936 Schoenhut closed for good. Whatreally sets this tent apart is that each of the nails or tacks holding the twocurtains and top in place has only made one hole each in the wood frame. Usually there are countless holes in the woodframe where the curtains have been put up and taken down multiple times but notwith this tent, it\'s one tack to one hole.The back curtain of the tent is very colorful, the white areas havegrayed but the colors are still nice and strong. The big red striped tent roof retains lots ofcolor and the clowns, tigers, lions, elephants, including the words Humpty DumptyCircus around the edges the are very clear!The front drop curtain is also original and it retains all the originalbrass eyelets and the original pull strings along with the original metalanchor strip at the bottom. The paint onthe frames, uprights, and floor of this tent are original and all have somescattered loss to their finishes. Theouter bottom edges of the drop curtain has rust stains which are typical forthis curtain as the steel anchor strip is often rusty if not completely gone.The steel anchor strip in this curtain hasbeen cleaned and repainted to stop the rusting and any further staining. Thetent roof and the side curtains have overall staining which is typical for theage. The tent even has the originalthumbtacks holding the roof on as well as the original tacks for the front andback curtains. All of the fabric hasbeen hand washed to remove soot and surface dirt and carefully reinstalled tackfor tack as it was originally. Both ofFlags are replacements and were made by scanning an original Flag for thehighest accuracy (see photo #11).Because the two grommets were tearing through the peaks, both of theseareas were reinforced from underneath with cotton fabric similar to the tentand the grommets were replaced with aged brass grommets. Also a couple small areas of wear along theedge of the back of the roof were also reinforced to keep them fromspreading. All of these reinforcementswere done from the inside and are not visible without removing the top. The advertisement in the catalogstates “Every boy needs this Outfit in order to make his circus.” “The GreatestShow on Earth.” Don’t let this fabulous rare Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circustent get away!
