You are offerding on a signed Franz Bergman bronze of an Odalisque (harem girl) and her attendant boy.

\"Franz Bergman (1861-1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures. Cold-paintedbronze refers to the pieces cast in Vienna and then decorated in several layers with so-called dust paint, the know-how for the mix of this kind of paint has been lost.(Wikipedia).\"

The bronze measures approx. 8 1/2\" tall. It is signed/hallmarked on the right rear lower corner with the Bergman \"B\" in an amphora vase and very very faintly \"Nam Greb\", Bergman in reverse.

The bronze is a \"book piece\" found in the \"Antique Vienna Bronzes\" book by Joseph Zobel page 149. As seen in the book photo the small oriental rug is placed on the base at an angle.

This item is an estate piece and in great antique condition. We would remind buyers that this item is pre-owned with associated surface wear consistent with the age & use and manufacturing. There is some errant flecking to paint and some chips on the stone base, both commensurate with age.Please use the zoom tool on the photos provided to inspect the item.Photos are part of our description.
