This delightful genuine antique plug bayonet shows very refined workmanship, with the 10\" hand-forged blade is hollow-ground on both sides
Blade is still VERY SHARP and in reasonably condition for its age, showing minor rust degradation with several areas of shallow pitting deeper in a few small areas, there are several small \"nicks\" to the cutting edge indicative of being used over the years
The superbly carved dark wood (Ebony ?) handle features a REVERSIBLE action !!........Transforming it from a HUNTING DAGGER to a PLUG BAYONET
When in either setting the handle is very firm to the blade with no nasty rattles
Finely worked unhallmarked mounts that are almost certainly Silver of high purity
This bayonet (part of an old New Zealand collection is PRESERVED overall with \"Renaissance Wax\"
