This sale is for a smallish hand saw made by The Bay State Saw Mfg Co of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Fitchburg is where Simonds started out, but I have no idea if there is any connection between the companies. Simonds makes very good saws, and this one appears to be a good saw, but I am not expert with the tool collectibles. The blade on this one is 18 inches long, and I count 9 teeth per inch. This saw is nice and straight and the handle is in solid condition. The etched logo on the blade is impossible to read. I rubbed a couple rust spots off near the tip of the blade with steel wool and olive oil, but I haven\'t tried to clean the blade. There is a name stamped faintly on the back side of the handle and there are initials carved there, too. Overall condition is still very good, in spite of the carving..
I use Standard Mail, First Class Mail, and Media Mail whenever possible to save you money on shipping, and I will combine items in the same box to save you money on shipping. I use foam peanuts and bubble wrap when necessary, and I use recycled products most of the time, including sturdy used cardboard boxes when I can find them. This package will be shipped by Priority Mail, so I can pack it in one of their mailing tubes.
