This interesting Victorian 9ct gold brooch measures 53mm (2\'\') long x 15mm (.5\'\') across the shovel blade and weighs 4.8 grams. It is marked to the reverse 9ct and dates to around the 1880\'s when the South African gold rush took place. It is made from three nuggets, a pick, a shovel and a bucket lashed together half way up the handles. It is in good condition with no damage or repairs and an interesting piece of South Africa gold rush history.
