STEREOVIEW SNOWS ALPINE HOTEL LA CASA NEVADA 1870 YOSEMITE VALLEY SUPER RARE:
$10.95

This is a very rare photo of Snow\'s Hotel also know as the Alpine House and later La Casa Nevada and was taken shortly after its opening in April of 1870. You can see construction debris in front of the building and two people to left of the structure. In 1871 an addition was added to one end of the building. This was the most remote of the early hotels in Yosemite, as it was very near Nevada Falls you could see the falls from the building and sometimes mist would blow over it. Snow ran the hotel until 1889 and it burned down in 1900. It was never rebuilt as it is impossible to get a automobile to the site it is so remote to the valley. It was at 5,350 feet elevation. I have another card of this view and the photographer is identified as \"E&H. T. Anthony, N.Y.
