STERLING SILVER ELGIN-AMERICAN Powder Compact w/Silver-on-Silver Design on Lid:

This is a square vintage 1950s STERLING SILVER powder compact, signed ELGIN-AMERICAN on the powder door on the inside. It weighs in at 4.5 ounces or 127 grams on my postal scale. The lid features a beautiful etched silver-on-silver leaves design that appears to just glow at you, depending on the light in which you\'re viewing it (see photos below). The compact comes to you in it\'s original teal-colored cloth envelope or sleeve and is signed STERLING on the inside, right below the mirror (see second-from-last photo below). The back of the compact is all smooth sterling silver (see last photo below). Overall condition is very good to excellent.

The compact measures 2¾\" square. Inside, you see a very good framed mirror, quite clear and totally reflective. The body of the compact has a closed or lidded well or compartment for holding loose face powder. However, there currently is no powder in the compact (I emptied it out). The original powder pad is present and in good (useable) condition. Also, the compact still retains it\'s original semi-permanent terrycloth-like lining on all four sides of the powder well. Both the powder door and the powder pad are signed ELGIN-AMERICAN.

As indicated above, overall condition is very good to excellent. I see NO dents or dimples or anything else wrong with the silver. All hinges and clasps work perfectly as they should. The ONLY reasons I did not describe this compact as being in excellent or even near mint condition is because there are some VERY small dark-ish dots on the silver, which you probably won\'t even notice. I\'m sure you can polish them out, but I wasn\'t going to try. Also, the underside has some marks and surface scratches on it, probably from being set down upon and moved around countless surfaces in the last 60 years. However, I believe this also can be easily polished out, if you are so inclined.

Returns OK within 14 days from the end of the sale, but only if item(s) are misrepresented in the listing. Please pay for this via PayPal.

Whenever possible, I am happy to combine your purchases into just one package to save you shipping fees. I can wait up to five days to get paid, should you want to wait and see if you have won other items I currently am listing.
