For sale is a beautiful piece of art glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is Compote and it is done in Frederick Carder\'s most desirable Blue Aurene style of art glass. The Compote has some size to it as it stands 7 3/16\" tall and is 5 3/16\" in diameter. The foot has a diameter of 3 7/8\". There were 5 sizes to this form at Steuben. This is the 2nd largest.

The Compote displays a round foot with a long stem attached. The stem rises up to a shallow bowl or receiving cup. The bowl has a very nice shape tp it and gives this piece that added appeal. This compote is a very similar shape to a chalice. The blue iridescence is outstanding. The foot has a mirror peacock blue brilliance. The stem and outer iridescence is a little more subtle picking up some fuchsia and gold hues. The inside of the vessel is gorgeous!! The iridescence is brilliant and changes as you turn it.

The compote is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are minor scratches on the underside bottom outer edge. This is typical of normal age use. There is a few pencil tip nicks on the foot iridescent but I did not see any on the outer or inner body. There is a counter sunk polished pontil, the sign of a quality piece of art glass. The vase is signed on the bottom above and below the pontil with the etched \"Aurene\" signature mark along with its shape number \"2642\" which is also etched.

This is truly an excellent example and of investment quality. Those of you whom collect Steuben Blue Aurene will surely welcome this wonderful vase into your collection.
