During our research we have been informed itcertainlydates from the 19th century.

Dates about c1880s.

Of a black forest origin.

Gothic.

The first of four similar listed.

Wooden oak relief carving of:

the gargoyle with its quite stunning intricate features.

Open mouthed with the protruding tongue..

Pointed ears.

Intricate feet.

fruits and leaves centrally to the body.

Decorative carved rear with the flat top.

Built up in sections before relief carving.

It has an overall height of about 18inches.

Max dia across the ears of about 5.11inches.

Max depth of about 8inches.

Condition: Considering the age, the overall conditionis excellent andisnot subject to:

any major blemishes except: a couple of chips to the top edge at the corners on the flat top.
