A stunning quality rare sterling silvercigarette case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1912 with the makers mark beingpartially struck and the retailers being Searle Hoare and Co of London. As it has no import marks I suspect they must have employed a Chinese silversmith to make pieces at their British workshops as it is identical to Chinese made pieces. It has been beautifully designed being embossedto the front and back with chrysanthemums. It is in superb condition being freefrom dings splits holes and repairs. The hinge works perfectly as does the catch. It measures over 3 inches (8.1cms) long by over 2.5 inches(6.6cms) wide by approx. 0.75 inch (1.9cms) thick and weighs 88 grams. A qualitymade very interesting example - never seen a British example before.
