This item is for a lovely Sterling silver half-hunter pocket watch with enamel numerals tot he front cover, the watch was sold by Wilsdorf and Davis who in 1908 set up the company Rolex. James Davis and Hans Eberhard Wilhelm Wilsdorf set up a Business in London 1903 called Wilsdorf & Davis they began importing movements from Switzerland and had the cases made in london which were stamped with W&D, Wilsdorf began to understand the importance of having a companty name that was universal the world over, and realized that the trade name should be short and incapable of being misspelt which is when Rolex was born, It is unclear how he arrived with the word Rolex but it was first registered in 1908 in Geneva and has since become one of the most recognized names in the world. This watch only just missed out being a Rolex as the same year the company was born
Condition:the movement is working, there is some wear to the case, the outside glass cover is there but has a few small chips and the inside glass is missing, hard to see in photos but some faint hairline cracks to the dial, the dial also has slight movement but i think that is were the glass is missing, no dents
