This is a superb majolica male figure with the barrel, match holder, striker ofwhich:
During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the 19th century.
Dates c1880s.
Of a european origin.
Majolica.
Seated male bearded figure, wearing a hat portrayed sleeping with an tumbler of ale in his hand with the other hand, supporting the barrel which is used for holding matches with a striker to the circumference & to the rear of the barrel chair.
Decorative barrel with the majolica blue colouring internally.
It has an overall height of about 3.75inches.
It has an overall size underneath including feet of about 4 x 2.25inches.
Barrel dia of about 1.25inches.
Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is subject to:
the males leg under the tankard having a glue repair around the circumference where it has been separated from the body with:
a chip underneath the edge of the jacket.
